3 unnoticed SRH players who were integral to their successful run

Posted on February 27, 2023

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) replaced the Deccan Chargers in 2013 in the Indian Premier League (IPL). They are among the most stable teams in the top T20 competition with 75 wins and 77 losses over ten seasons.

They took home their first IPL in 2016, beating RCB during the semi-finals at Chinnaswamy Stadium. They advanced to the playoffs over the next four seasons, they established themselves as an opponent to be reckoned with in the league.

The SRH has recently was appointed by Aiden Markram as the captain of the franchise following the release of the New Zealander Kane Williamson. Three unassuming players who have had a successful time during the IPL.

England cricket wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow is one of the top T20 batters around the world for the past five years. He scored 1038 runs during the 28 games that he played over the three seasons with SRH with an average of 42 and scoring an average of 8.5 run per over.

The player made his IPL debut with the Sunrisers in the year 2019. His role was vital to SRH reaching the top 4 in the season with 445 runs at the rate of an average 56, and an average striking rate of 157. His first partnership along with Warner proved incredibly destructive, especially during the game with RCB in the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.

In the following seasons, Bairstow did well whenever he had the opportunity. There was often a discussion about who should be selected as the fourth international player between Bairstow and Williamson. But, he was let go prior to the auction in 2022. He now is a player with the Punjab Kings.

#2 Sandeep Sharma

Medium pacer with right arm Sandeep Sharma has been among the top Indian speedsters of the IPL. We are most fondly remembering him for his actions in and the Punjab Kings. He is, however, the 4th highest wicket taker for SRH of all time, following Bhuvneshwar Kumar (130), Rashid Khan (95) as well as Siddarth Kaul (52).

Sharma has taken 41 wickets over 43 games at an average of 31, as well as an efficiency level of 7.78. He was a very utilitarian bowler during the initial Six overs in the match, usually being able to take down the big names in higher order like Virat Kohli.

#3 Yuvraj Singh

Although Yuvraj Singh may not have had the most memorable IPL professional career but he was able to win his first trophy by playing for SRH. He has played for the team in 22 games and recorded 488 runs with the rate of 27, and an average strike rate of 137.

He was a key innings in the final of the 2016. Warner stepped out to bat at the 4th inning and hit a fast-fire 38 from only 23 balls. Warner was able to play with ease. Warner to be free to play and put a massive score for RCB. Other than this one Warner also had more memorable appearances on SRH.
