Career
Domestic Career
After playing in the U-19 cricket team in the state of Saurashtra, Chetan Sakariya represented the Saurashtra region across all formats at the senior level. The debut of his List A team was made in a match against Baroda in Delhi on 22nd February 2018. While he was costly in the game, Chetan picked up the wickets of Kedar Devdhar and Krunal Pandya in his debut on List-A.
The following time, Chetan Sakariya was awarded his first cap in the first class for the Indian team against Gujarat in Nadiad. Sakariya was once more awe-inspiring to everyone by grabbing five wickets on his debut. He came back in the form of figures 5/83 during the first innings, and added 1/7 in the 2nd innings.
In the end, Chetan got a chance to represent Saurashtra in T20 cricket for the first time on the 21st of February 2019. Chetan took part in his very first T20 against Railways in Indore and scored one wicket during his stint.
So far, Chetan has picked up 31 wickets over 18 T20 matches, at an average level of 7.19. The best numbers he has recorded for the format is 5/11 as well as several five-wicket hauls within the first-class field. Sakariya has yet to bring his “A game to List-A cricket.
IPL Career
Chetan Sakariya was awarded an agreement worth 1.2 crores INR with the Rajasthan Royals Team at the IPL Auction 2021. Sakariya got his debut IPL cap on the 12th of April 2021 in the match against Punjab Kings. He scored a three-wicket haul in his IPL debut, removing KL Rahul Mayank Agarwal, and Jhye Richardson. He secured his place on the playing side thanks to an impressive performance during his debut match during the IPL in 2021.
Background
Originating from Gujarat, Chetan Sakariya wowed the crowd with his left-arm speed bowling in the local arena. But his family was struggling financially, and his brother committed suicide just weeks prior to the Saurashtra pacer signed his IPL contract with the Royals. In spite of the challenges he had faced in his life, Chetan never gave up and he realised his goal of playing on the biggest stage in the IPL 2021. If he continues to play like he has done up to now, he might be a part of the Indian cricket team due to the fact that India require a left-arm backup fast bowler to replace T Natarajan.
