Anton Fier, the famous drummer of The Feelies and The Loung Lizards, passed in his sleep on the Wednesday of September 21, 2022. He was the creator of The Golden Palominos. Find out the reason Anton Fier died and what caused the cause of his death.

Fier was a well-known musician as well as a composer, producer, also a leader of a group from Cleveland. He was famous for his collaborations with big names throughout his lengthy career. Fans have been paying tribute to the legend of music ever since the sad news of his death broke.

Anton Fier was a highly skilled musician. He passed away on Wednesday, as reported by Syd Straw, who was a bandmate and acquaintance of Fier during his time with The Golden Palominos in the 1980s. They played live together and also contributed vocals to Visions of Excess (1985) as well as its follow-up, ‘Blast Of Silence’ which was released the following year.

“Devastated to tell you of the sorry demise of Anton Fier, who never realized how loved he was,” Straw wrote in a touching Facebook post posted on Wednesday.

The Feelies pay tribute to Fier on Twitter , confirming the passing of the drummer they used to be. The band posted a picture of Fier with the caption “Peace, Anton.”

Bob Mould has also paid tribute to his friend on Twitter.

A formal announcement from his family members is expected at the moment of this writing. But, it’s now established that the musician is gone in the world.

Anton Fier died on Wednesday 21 September 2022 at the age of 66. The exact cause of the death of Anton Fier aren’t known as of now. Therefore, we do not know the exact causes of his death.

Was Anton Fier?

Anton Fier was born on June 20, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio. He went on to become a well-known American musician, drummer as well as a composer and bandleader. He began in the drumming industry in The Lounge Lizards and The Feelies.

It was his turn to join The Feelies in 1978 before leaving the group a year later. But he was a drummer on their debut album from 1980 “Crazy Rhythms.” He was also part of The Lounge Lizards’ self-titled 1981 debut album. Fier also played on the band Voidoids as well as a short part of Pere Ubu.

The year was 1981 when Fier was the founding member of Golden Palominos and was the group’s bandleader for a long time. The group was comprised of a rotating band of musicians that also included the Bassist Bill Laswell and guitarist Nicky Skopelitis frequently.

The band debuted their self-titled debut album in 1983, and then released seven additional albums until the Dead Inside. After 2012 the group revived itself and released a joint album together with Kevin Kinney titled “A Good Country Mile.”

1979’s Pere Ubu EP which was titled Datapanik at the time of Zero is dedicating it to Fier. Fier was also in The Lodge with John Greaves.

Anton Fier was widely known for his collaboration with famous musicians throughout his lengthy career. Some of the artists that he collaborated with included Husker Du and Sugar frontman Bob Mould, Bootsy Collins and jazz saxophonist from the avantgarde John Zorn, Jack Bruce, John Greaves, and Makino Kazu.

Fier also performed along with Bassist Jack Bruce and Japanese guitarist Kenji Suzuki on the 1987 record Inazuma Super Session- Absolute Live!

In October, Syd Straw revealed that Fier had been playing drums for a while. The reason behind this wasn’t disclosed, but many believe it was due his age.
